In-House Understanding Risky Play

Risk Assessment is a careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people. It is important because it allows you to weigh up whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm.

Course description

Risky play allows children to challenge themselves on many levels:

  • Physically – by climbing a little higher, running a little faster or jumping a little further
  • Emotionally – feeling out of control or overcoming fear
  • Mentally – learning how to get out of trouble, learning your own boundaries and that of the environment around them.
This course will give you a better understanding of how to approach risk assessment and risk management when balancing the need for children to engage in risky play.
